Projects of the Week 08/29/26

19 photos from projects completed this week

Kevin, a close friend of my brother Dave and I ran into a problem with his contractor and asked us to help him to get some projects completed around his home to prepare for putting it on the market. We plan to renovate 4 bedrooms and the kitchen, including new flooring, new windows & doors, and painting, along with a few smaller projects spanning over a few months which started in mid July. Along with some work in both his attached and detached garages as well.

The week started out with the replacement of the remaining doors in the hallway, and then painted the new doors and jambs as well after caulking & filling nail holes. Their Boxer "Hank" was right there with me all week in case I wanted to play.

After talking to, and meeting with the Electrician for the last couple days I went ahead and laid out the new lighting configuration, and drilled out the holes for the new canless recessed downlighting units. I also cut out more drywall about 4 feet up the wall so the Electrician can more easily run the new wiring. The drywall will be easier to install later as well since I will be using exactly a full sheet and a half instead of multiple smaller pieces of drywall. I also removed the drywall that used to be to the right of the range that was simply too damaged to finish over, so I just removed it and will hang new drywall there as well.

Kevin was happy that I also installed new exterior lighting fixtures that all have motion sensors as well.
