Projects of the Week 09/05/26

16 photos from projects completed this week

Kevin, a close friend of my brother Dave and I ran into a problem with his contractor and asked us to help him to get some projects completed around his home to prepare for putting it on the market. We plan to renovate 4 bedrooms and the kitchen, including new flooring, new windows & doors, and painting, along with a few smaller projects spanning over a few months which started in mid July. Along with some work in both his attached and detached garages as well.

This past week was a whirlwind of smaller projects as we wait for the rough electrical to be done, and ready for inspection which has been scheduled for this following week the day after Labor Day.

Kevin and his wife decided to replace the medicine cabinet and vanity light in their half bath. When I removed the old med cabinet I discovered that there wasn't any framing on the right side, so that all had to be re-framed, and centered. Then I repaired the drywall around it.

I laid out the configuration and cut out the holes for the new downlighting. The Electrician then ran the wires for them, and I went ahead and installed the new ultra thin puck downlighting.

Most of the new Schlage door levers were installed, mostly in the hallway, and then I cut the holes square around the holes left from demo and the Electrician after the light fixture and ceiling fan was removed. Then I patched in the drywall, then tapped the joints, and applied joint compound. Later I will float more joint compound over the ceiling in areas where the old cabinets hung, and match the texture.

I also installed 3 ceiling fans in 3 of the bedrooms. Then installed the new door and lever for their half bath. The bottom of that door had to be cut because of the height of the tile.
