Kevin, a close friend of my brother Dave and I ran into a problem with his contractor and asked us to help him to get some projects completed around his home to prepare for putting it on the market. We plan to renovate 4 bedrooms and the kitchen, including new flooring, new windows & doors, and painting, along with a few smaller projects spanning over a few months which started in mid July. Along with some work in both his attached and detached garages as well.
The past two weeks have been very busy. It's been so busy that I skipped my weekly post last week. This past week I began the kitchen cabinet installation. I started with the base cabinets in the corner of the kitchen. Then went down the line, drilled holes in the sink base for the plumbing, and left the 24" space for the dishwasher. Next I assembled the cabinets for the island, and set the island to 2x4 cleat material secured to the floor.
After setting the base cabinets I laid plywood sub-top down on to them in preparation for the new countertops. Then I went right into hanging the wall cabinets starting at the far end of the kitchen. I also ran new vent fan ducting up through the attic into the exhaust roof cap. Then I changed gears, and applied new wall texture on all the areas of the walls that were repaired. Next I will do some priming and maybe painting before I continue with the installation of the remaining cabinets including the fridge cabinet & panels.
